Login exists in server and db, but doesn't exist??

I have restored a db onto a server, which has the same Login account that
exists in the db.
When trying to add DBO permission to the Login in the DB Users node I get
this error.
Error 15410: User or role '%s' does not exist in this database.
When trying to add DBO permission to the DB by selecting the Login through
security I get this error.
Error 21002: The Distribution Agent for this subscription already exists
(%s).
When I try to remove user from Database through the User's node I get this
error:
Error 15008: User '%s' does not exist in the current database.
So now I can't add the dbo permission to the user as we need and I can't
remove the invalid User from the db and then add it back in. I have tried
installing the Sync SQL Logins.exe utility, but I can't run it on my
computer. It is looking for mscoree.dll, which does not exist on my
computer. I have run the windows update to make sure my computer has the
latest stuff on it, but it didn't help. I know there must be some script
that will allow me to fix this problem, but after spending 4 hours searching
Microsoft KB and trying several different things I haven't been able to fix
it yet. Is there anyone who can help me with this?
Thanks,
SherryThanks. That was just too simple. I was looking for a complicated fix.
Just goes to show, sometimes you can overthink things. Works now. Thanks
again!

SQL Server does not exist or access denied!
Dear all,
I'm using SQl Server 2K on a webserver and the sa password is "abcde". Using
this user name and password, and with ADO, I established our website.
Now the website is still working well, can input data, show data, even after
restart the computer. (does it means the sa password still correct?)
But I cannot login to this SQL Server with "Enterprise Manager" or "Query
Analyzer". Either with sa or Windows-Authenticate. (I user the administrator
to login to the server).
It seems some-virus has attacked this server because I found under the
administrators group, the user name of "guest" is there. I have disabled this
guest account now.
Please tell me how to run up the Enterprise Manager? Thanks a lot.
Are you able to ping the SQL Server machine? Where are you loading the
Enterprise Manager from? is it directly on the SQL Server? It looks like a
connectivity issue to me

caused 3 or more sessions to go into an exchange wait state that seems to

You might have to use Query Analyzer and run a statement like
select lastwaittype, waittime, loginame, spid, b.name, uid, physical_io,
last_batch,open_tran,a.status,loginame,hostname,pr ogram_name,cmd,net_address
from sysprocesses a left join sysdatabases b on b.dbid=a.dbid
where cmd not in ('LAZY WRITER','LOG WRITER','CHECKPOINT SLEEP','LOCK
MONITOR')
and waittime>0 order by lastwaittype,waittime
(wait type 200 may show up, it is an exchange wait.)
If you run this statement a couple of times and 3 or more sessions show up
every time, then you need to boot the server. At least that has been our
experience.

Login does not exist - Error 15401

Hello,
Our IT Infrastructure group had recently renamed the Windows login username
from Bob_J to JBob. When I tried to add the new login with the new username
after the change, I received the error '15401: Windows NT user or group 'Cor
porate\JBob' not found. Che
ck the name again.' I used the sp_revokelogin to drop that login but it stil
l did not allow me to add the new username. I know the issue related to SID
but I had removed the login according KB324321.
If I added the login 'Corporate\Bob_J' back, it was fine. Under User Manager
, user Bob_J no longer exists. Have anyone had experience with this? If so,
how can I correct it? Do I not have a choice by either using the old usernam
e or create a new Windows l
ogin user? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. This could be ralated to the following article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329420.
SQL Server uses the function mentioned in the article. If you have SP4 of
Windows 2000 installed this may not be the problem. The quick resolution is
to reboot all serves involved starting with the SQL Server to see if that
will resolve the problem and then the domain controller.
